48" Shipwreck Bronze Cannon Available!

Just recovered by divers in Southeast Asia!

Portuguese Rail Cannon recovered from a shipwreck!

Just recovered by divers in Southeast Asia!

This extraordinary Portuguese rail cannon was recently recovered from an ongoing shipwreck salvage project in Southeast Asia.  This cannon and ten others that have been recovered so far are unique in the fact that they were NOT part of the ships armaments, but part of the trade cargo.  These cannons show absolutely no ware anywhere on them.  They have never been fired, nor do they have the usual dings and scratches that all used cannons acquire during their service.  This is the last one available at this time.  It is 57 inches long, has a 1.5 inch bore, is 6 inches in diameter at the muzzle, and the back of the breach is 7 inches in diameter. There is no damage of any kind, but the total surface area and the inside of the barrel does show the effects of 300 years in brackish waters.  There is no serious pitting - just the nice and even effects of its long submersion.

The extremely rare twisted rear portion of this cannon is in fantastic condition!  The muzzle has three reinforcing rings near the muzzle and a very prominent front sight.  The color is greenish gray with some very light white encrusting from the water.  If you want a sea salvaged cannon - without the usual damage - this is the one for you! The weight is 162 pounds. Note:  Spanish coins dating in the  1650's were found on this shipwreck site!

The middle sight is predominant with a circular "crest" and a great breach decoration. (SSP#11)
